Interview for "The Other Side of the Face"

Wywiad dla projektu "Druga strona twarzy"

The Other Side of the Face: An Artistic Perspective.

Seva Zelikoff – FashionTV Photographer, Business, Portrait, and Fashion Photographer

  • I am a photographer and cinematographer at FashionTV with over 20 years of experience in fashion and portrait photography.
  • I have filmed stars such as Natalie Portman, Jared Leto, Carla Bruni, and Andie MacDowell.
  • My work has been published in numerous magazines, including major projects for Vogue Italia.
  • I offer professional business and personal branding photography with travel across Poland, including Warsaw, Lodz, Krakow, and Gdansk.

What emotions or feelings do you aim to capture in your portraits?

SZ: I consider myself a good listener, so I always give my clients the opportunity to share as much as possible about themselves. This allows me to form my own impression of the person in front of my lens. During this process, clients often realize what their photograph should convey. At that moment, they feel a connection between their inner state and the image we are creating together. That’s when our best photos – full of authenticity – are captured.

Do clients discover something new about themselves through photography?

SZ: This usually happens with clients attending a photo session for the first time. Daily, they see themselves in the mirror, but the camera shows them differently. In the studio, where I control the lighting, I can completely transform their image. My job is to reveal this new perspective and show that appearance is more than a mirror reflection. I feel immense satisfaction when revealing a new side of someone’s personality.

How do you build rapport with clients to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera?

SZ: It’s very individual! Some need constant guidance because they don’t know what to do with their hands, how to look, or how to relax. Others already have experience in photoshoots or presentations – then it’s enough just to let them be. :) If everything is organized smoothly, the session proceeds comfortably, and the client receives beautiful photos.

What challenges in corporate photography inspire your creativity?

SZ: Every session is unique – new people, new spaces. What worked yesterday may not work today. That’s why I stay fully alert and never get bored! :) I think clients sense my engagement and trust me, for which I am very grateful.

Does being a photographer bring you happiness and fulfillment?

SZ: Yes! I do what I love and regularly receive positive feedback from clients, which brings me immense joy. I have a “3x combo”: the excitement of the photoshoot itself (I love testing equipment and lighting), satisfaction from post-processing, and finally – the smiles of happy clients.

Interview Summary

GD: Your attentive and individualized approach demonstrates how important it is to create an environment conducive to self-discovery in front of the camera. Your passion for photography brings both professional fulfillment and deep satisfaction. I wish you many sessions that bring joy to both you and your clients!
